Living in Harmony with Nature
– Live project with KUNA –
Focusing on the Wari period (500-1000 AD), this project explores ancient Peruvian culture and its traditional textiles. Through extracting visual elements from photos of Peruvian villages, agriculture and landscape, new motifs and patterns are created based on the principles of Wari aesthetics. Jacquard weaving techniques are used as a contemporary method of creating intentional irregularities that the Wari people have celebrated.
